NBL reset for Kings

Gloucester City Kings have taken advantage of some re-arranged games to have a reset and a mini-camp to build confidence ahead of the campaign run in. It's been a tough start to life in NBL Division 3 with injuries and schedule conflicts preventing a strong side to be put together. The squad has been bolstered with former professional player, Jay Marriott coming out of retirement to help the team as a player/coach.

Jay Marriott had this to say:

Adam and the team have needed some support, I'm realistic that I'm 41 years old but I know I can help from both angles from an experience standpoint. We had a meeting to discuss the best way to move forward and for me it was about getting into the trenches with both the players and coaching staff. We can perform better and this reset has galvanised the group.

During the mini-camp the squad played in WEBBA league, back to back, double headers beating Bristol Hurricanes and Bristol Spartans two teams with notable NBL player additions.

Head Coach, Adam Stacey had this to say:

This was a great test for the squad and important we get that winning feeling back. A reset was needed for the group, re-visited roles and responsibilities and had a really strong, positive reaction from the group. Jay has come in and given us that leadership on court and his shooting ability has enabled to open up space for players to play with more freedom. From a coaching perspective having him support me and the guys is great and certainly excited me moving forward.
