Queens signal intent with Melita signing

Gloucester City Queens are thrilled to announce the marquee signing of Great Britain and England International Melita Emanuel-Carr.

The London-born guard headed to Spain after a successful college career playing for Bembibre. Emanuel-Carr returned to England to play for BA London Lions and most recently Oaklands Wolves in the WBBL last time out.

“I am excited to start this new adventure with the Queens,” commented Melita.

“I am fully recovered from injury so it’s a fresh start for me. I believe we can come into this league and be very competitive in our first season, so I’m excited to get going.”

Melita becomes the third signing for new Queens franchise, CEO of Gloucester Sport Jay Marriott commented:

“We are delighted to welcome someone of Melita’s calibre to our program. When talking through the recruitment process we had great synergy. The WBBL hasn’t experienced her at the peak of her ability due to injury so we are looking forward to a healthy, motivated Melita in a Queens jersey.”

“Her ability to play multiple positions will be invaluable as we continue to build a roster we are excited about coming into our first season.”

“Melita is a leader both on and off the court, that will be integral to our early culture built within the club.”

Emanuel-Carr was a part of the successful 2018 Commonwealth Games England team who won a silver medal on the Gold Coast.
